Denise is a qualified and experienced consultant with practical industry knowledge in Work Health and Safety and Heavy Vehicle Safety and Compliance. Establishing SafeSense Workplace Safety in 2010, Denise has built a successful health and safety consulting practice over 12 years through word of mouth referrals and repeat business, developing long term client relationships.
Prior to establishing SafeSense, Denise obtained extensive industry experience as an OHS Manager and Consultant (both permanent and contract) and Injury Management Advisor.
Throughout her career, Denise has gained industry experience in transport and logistics, manufacturing, printing, technical services and trades, civil construction, energy, waste and local and state government. Through working with transport companies on health and safety projects, Denise has gained a detailed knowledge of the application of the Heavy Vehicle National Law and Chain of Responsibility (CoR).
Denise is a recognised thought leader in the OHS/CoR space as a contributing author to Australasian Transport News, which has a circulation of over 6000 copies per issue and over 16000 subscribers to the daily e-news.

In 2014, Denise was invited to be the contributing author on Safety Culture in Small & Medium Enterprises in the OHS Body of Knowledge for Generalist OHS Professionals. This accolade recognises Denise’s advanced and specialised skills to apply OHS within the broader SME environment.
In 2019, Denise was invited to represent the Australian Institute of Health and Safety at the National Transport Commission review of the Heavy Vehicle National Law.
Denise has been on the panel of independent consultants with WorkSafe Victoria for 12 years, having successfully tendered over 4 periods. This allows Denise to deliver the WorkSafe Victoria funded OHS Essentials Program to small and medium businesses across all industries.
In-house Safety & Compliance support for one of the largest privately-owned container cartage and general distribution companies in Melbourne’s west for 18 months.
Documenting and implementing safe work practices for a Materials Recycling Facility, working with legal counsel to prepare documentation and report for defence in WorkSafe prosecution and ongoing OHS support, mentoring and coaching for 3 years.
Developing the traffic management plan, safe working procedures and training and induction material for a new warehouse of 4000m2 for one of the world’s largest freight forwarders and a US Fortune 200 company.
Safety system development, implementation and third-party certification to AS4801:2001 for 8 years for a medium-sized freight forwarding organisation.
